Aircrafters LLC "I've been crazy about airplanes since I was 4-years-old and waved a plastic airplane over my head," explains Larry Graves about his inspiration to start AirCrafters. "My business partner, Dave Saylor and I, are both just nuts about planes." Providing builder education and assistance for owners of custom aircraft, primarily to pilots, Graves and Saylor started AirCrafters in a warehouse in Gilroy in 1998. They moved "inside the fence" at the Watsonville airport in June, 2000 and had just one employee. Today they have 10 employees, an indication of how well AirCrafters is doing. "This is a tough business because it's so specialized, so we've worked really hard to build an excellent reputation. It's been word of mouth that's helped us so much." Financing a business is always difficult and Graves and Saylor used their hard-earned dollars from the years they worked elsewhere to get it off the ground. "I've been a member of a Credit Union member since 1972 so it was a no-brainer to seek out additional loan funds from SCCCU. Our current $75,000 line of credit that Ramiro gave us has really given us a financial boost. We honestly couldn't do it without this kind of financing," says Graves. Additionally, Graves is quick to point out that the benefits of joining the Credit Union are not only accrued by the individual but by the community as a whole.
